Dear friends,
Another hymn for you today as we make our way towards Christmas!
First, have a listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWICUo65wW4&ab_channel=KingsCollegeChoir
A multitude of the heavenly host praised God as they announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds. Think of what a marvel that is! The angels, who are always serving in the presence of God, rejoiced that night. They were glad for the salvation that had come into the world. They were thrilled to see God’s glory revealed in his mercy to you and me. The angels rejoice when a sinner repents, and they longed to see the fulfillment of everything that God promised. They know how glorious it is, how good and beautiful God’s grace is.
How can we do anything less than sing for joy and be glad when we hear the news they brought! “Peace on earth, good will toward men!”
1 On Christmas night all Christians sing
To hear the news the angels bring,
On Christmas night all Christians sing
To hear the news the angels bring,
News of great joy, news of great mirth,
News of our merciful King’s birth.
2 Then why should men on earth be so sad,
Since our Redeemer made us glad,
Then why should men on earth be so sad,
Since our Redeemer made us glad,
When from our sin He set us free,
All for to gain our liberty?
3 When sin departs before His grace,
Then life and health come in its place,
When sin departs before His grace,
Then life and health come in its place;
Angels and men with joy may sing,
All for to see the newborn King.
4 All out of darkness we have light,
Which made the angels sing this night,
All out of darkness we have light,
Which made the angels sing this night:
“Glory to God and peace to men
Now and forevermore. Amen.”
God bless and keep you,
Pr. Buchs
