December 4, 2024
Dear Friends,
This Wednesday begins our Advent midweek services! Come along for Evening Prayer at 7pm, as we learn from St. Peter how to prepare for the coming of Jesus in glory! Wednesday evenings are also a great opportunity to join us for Bible Study at 6pm (a closer look at some of the key stories of the Old Testament). And! There’ll be a big pot of soup on starting at 5:30! Just bring yourselves and your appetite for good food and God’s Word!
Then, remember the spaghetti dinner and silent auction/bake sale on Saturday! 4:30 – 6pm!
Third, here’s a new thing! Concordia will be host to a unique men’s retreat this winter! Take a look and share with anyone who might be interested!
Last, a quick reminder of our group effort to learn the catechism by heart! Here’s the info from last week — come ready to recite together on Sunday!
Learn By Heart
It’s the beginning of a new year in the church – let’s resolve together to learn the catechism by heart! Each week, the bulletin will list the learn-by-heart assignment. You can work on the Text or the Text & Meaning. The following Sunday, we’ll recite the Text & Meaning together at the beginning of the sermon. Make it a part of your daily devotions, and let’s grow together!
For the First Sunday in Advent:
The First Commandment
You shall have no other gods. [the Text]
What does this mean?
We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things. [the Meaning]
God bless and keep you,
Pr. Buchs
