Dear Friends,
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
What a lesson to learn! To give thanks in all circumstances, even in suffering! Who can manage that?
You can do this, in fact, by faith. Faith believes that God is working all things together for your good. Faith believes that even the painful things are the discipline of a loving, heavenly Father. Faith dies and rises with Jesus, so that your life is hid with him.
Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm 30:4-5
Start like this – whenever trouble arises, let this prayer be on your lips: Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 118:1
Don’t wait until you feel thankful. Don’t wait until you can think of something to be thankful for. Just say it. Say it because it’s true, regardless of your feelings. God is good and gracious, and it’s through crosses and suffering that he sanctifies you and teaches you eternal joy.
God bless and keep you,
Pr. Buchs
